Skill Level: This is an intermediate class. You should be able to wrap a round ball and know how to accurately mark a simple 10-division. (See Japanese Temari, A Colorful Spin on an Ancient Craft). Detailed instructions are given from start to finish, including making and marking a ball, along with many tips on techniques. Instructions are given for stitching interlocked pentagons, interlocked 5-petal kiku herringbone designs (kiku herringbone stitching), 5-point star, spiderweb backstitching, and straight stitching. Glossary of terms in English and Japanese is a discussion topic for the last week of class.
