Make Japanese Temari in the Colors of Christmas for Very Special Ornaments
This lively colored temari was made for a thread challenge in our Yahoo group TemariChallenge. I plan to hang it on our Christmas tree.
I've made so many temari in Christmas colors that I now just display them in a large bowl.
This eye-catching temari design is called layered spindles. It is done on the easy simple 4-division temari ball. The pattern is in the book Japanese Temari, A Colorful Spin on an Ancient Craft.
Any temari ball can be made in Christmas colors. Add a hanger to the top with a bit of the same perle cotton used for stitching the Christmas temari design and you have a very special Christmas temari ornament.
Make a large temari and use it as the centerpiece in a bowl full of other holiday ornaments.
Even very simple designs make unique ornaments.
